Who We Are

Partnering to build a world where all youths are skilled, nurtured and educated.

The Bridging Center for Educational Access for Internally Displaced and Barrack Youths was established by Dr. Caroline Obiageli Emeka-Ogbonna with the prestigious Institute of International Education (IIE) Centennial Fellowship Grant for the year 2022-2023. The IIE Centennial Fellowship, an annual program celebrating IIE’s association with the Fulbright Program, focuses on recognizing Fulbright alumni whose work aligns with values of mutual understanding, leadership, global problem-solving, and impact. The 2022-2023 grant aimed at providing equitable access to higher education for refugees and displaced persons.

Dr. Caroline Obiageli Emeka-Ogbonna, a Fulbright Visiting Scholar to Kent State University, Ohio USA in 2021, is one of four successful Centennial Fellows selected globally from Afghanistan, Nepal, Ukraine, and Nigeria. Her vision is to bridge higher education opportunities for young people in internally displaced persons’ (IDP) camps, particularly in the Kaduna State of Nigeria.

Our Approach

We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces

At the Bridging Center, our comprehensive approach is centered on creating transformative and sustainable change for Internally Displaced and Barrack Youths. We employ a dynamic short-term post-secondary education model that emphasizes hands-on training in digital and artisanry skills.

Our approach extends beyond traditional education, addressing immediate challenges faced by youths in Kaduna State. By fostering a transformative mindset through critical thinking and socio-emotional coaching, we empower individuals to navigate complexities and contribute meaningfully to society.

We believe in the power of innovation to adapt to evolving needs. Our model is designed to equip youths not only with practical skills but also with the ability to think critically and contribute positively to their communities. By offering a blend of digital and artisanry skills alongside mentor-led internships, we aim to provide a holistic educational experience that goes beyond conventional boundaries.

Our commitment is to bridge the gap to higher education, providing a pathway for socio-economic growth. Through this multifaceted approach, we aspire to cultivate a new generation of leaders—champions of inclusion and peace who contribute significantly to societal development through social justice and industry.
